Over the months since my last post I have been agonizing over what I should do with a business that is struggling with the current economic downturn. Last week I finally decided that the end of the financial would be a good time to pull the pin and move on to some other project somewhere else. It was fun while it lasted, working for yourself is a fantastic albeit lonely existence. </div><div>So what does the future hold? the answer to that question is that i'm not entirely sure. I would like to stay working within the tourism industry but where that takes me your guess is as good as mine... In the weeks leading up to the game I swore to myself I would not watch any for any number of reasons that include Tibet, human rights, drug cheating, capitalism, channel 7, Bruce McAveny etc etc etc. However like always i succumbed to the specter of siting in front of the idiot box for hours on end watching mind (mostly) numbing events such as soccer, basketball, Judo, Tennis (why these events are Olympic sports I will never know) when I should be doing something constructive. For some reason though it just sucks you in. While the vast majority of what I have seen has been crap there have been some excellent sporting highlights starting with Michael Phelps 5 golds 5 world records, what a freak, will be a huge story if the guy tests positive. Unfortunately for me (and sports in general) that is my first thought when I see these sort of performances, I for one though hope it doesn't occur. My favorite  highlight so far was a guy for Togo winning his counties first ever medal in the Kayaking upon finishing the guy was so rapt with the bronze he celebrated by breaking his orr over the kayak.</div><div><br /></div><div>On to footy, the good old Saints have been true to form over the last few weeks with a possible top 4 spot on the line and the imminent retirement of the clubs greatest ever player Robert Harvey, the footy team trips (or should i say chokes) of at the last hurdle. Its like groundhog day all over again for third year in a row, if their was a award for the leagues best underachievers the Saints would win hands down. I have said it before and will say it again the saints will have to find themselves a new coach someone who has the ability to inspire. While we are not of the race for the finals from what I have seen we will only be making up numbers.</div><div><br /></div><div>On to Politics... I heard talk this week the government lowering the excise on fuel I would hope that they wont be that stupid. This week he has had a go at just about everyone who is not as far right as he. For this he receives an OT (this is the FF predecessor) of the week nomination.</div><div><br /></div><div>Another OT nomination goes to my favourite coach Mr Lyon for doing his utmost to make sure St Kilda do not make any sort of finals appearance. Way to go in the second quarter of last weeks collingwood game with the saints playing well in attack and then you order the team to start flooding (apologies to those that don't follow AFL), letting them back into the game.</div><div><br /></div><div> Third OT nomination this week goes to the knob P plate driver I spotted in his hotted up commodore  doing over a 100km in a 80km zone of dandenong road. I spotted another P plate driver in Oakleigh driving another commodore with his seat reclined back far enough that he could barely see over the steering wheel let alone reach the damn thing. So P platers get a OT nomination this week for thinking they are bullet proof.</div><div><br /></div><div>And the final OT of the week (this is something that annoys the crap out of me)  is a shared award to all those former political leaders such as Al Gore, Tony Blair and Bill Clinton. This week  the list of nominees isn't that big because I haven't been paying to much attention to the news (its good for the sanity). I did however manage to see the budget 08 o Tuesday night all in all i thought it reasonable I suppose (maths has never been my strong point or economics). This being said the federal labour government still receive a nomination this week for a number of their budget outcomes starting with the increase in the baby bonus increased to $5000 its a very stupid idea paying people to have kids. But my main gripe against the 08  budget and labour government is the outlay they have provided help our coal energy sector to clean up their act (as if they cant afford it themselves) at the expense of renewables... For that they earn a FF nomination...<div>Cant think of anymore FF nominations for this week, although the Generals in Burma can earn another nomination this week for being very slow to help their own people.</div><div>But this week Friday F#wit award goes to (insert drum roll) Andrew Bolt of the Herald Sun Newspaper. Now explain to me why the tax payer should be assisting such a dirty industry in helping them find ways of cleaning up their act. My nomination is for the St Kilda FC (general nomination because i'm not sure who is really at fault though I have my suspicions) for putting on a pathetic  display of football for the second time this year. For a supposed top four team they played like a bunch showponies at a dog show. I do think that questions should be asked of the coach because of the playing style or crap that he seems to enjoys seeing, no-doubt a left over of his  assistant days at Sydney. I for one will not go to anymore game's if they continue that style of play. The Saints have one of the better forward line set ups in the game so why do we constantly see the ball held up on the half back line, kick the ball long and move the ball quickly into the forward line to give the forwards the best opportunity of marking the damn ball.
